It is a grueling and at times dangerous species of racing: trucks or other vehicles with oversize tires and pliable suspensions race through the desert at night at speeds up to 80 miles an hour, vaulting over rock piles and sailing off natural dirt ramps, with drivers sometimes blinded by clouds of dust kicked up by the vehicles in front off them. Yet it is so captivating an entertainment that thousands of families and other fans turn out for these off-road races and make them into weekend campouts.
For 39 years, the event now knowns as BlueWater Resort & Casino / Best in the Desert Parker 425 is considered a premier event and draws some top names in the Off-road racing world. click here for Bitd site

The 16-mile section of scenic waterway along the Colorado River called the “Parker Strip” is dear to adventurers’ hearts. Not only does it provide a venue for recreational water sports many plays hosts to events such as marathon ski races, personal watercraft championships, powerboat races. From class boat races for clubs from California to professional events like the "Enduro 300" the parker strip provides event organizers and spectators a perfect venue to safely hold an event and for spectators to watch.
These may include single or twin piston engine V-bottom boats, single or twin piston engine catamaran style boats, four piston engine boats, and turbine boats. Depending on the class, speeds varies from 65 mph (105 km/h) to 250 mph (400 km/h).
The Enduro was started by Marion Beaver, a Parker resident and world champion boat racer. He originated the Enduro in 1963. He passed away in 2007. His original concept was to create a boat race that would test the endurance of drivers and their machines. While the original race was nine hours, and halted for a time in the 1980s. It was revived in 2006. Each October the sound of boat racing fills the air as this endurance race version goes for 300 miles, some five hours of racing on a 6-mile course.
